
Call for Entry: GAF Goes Global!
Following guidance from federal, state and local officials, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virginia Department of Health, the 2020 Gloucester Arts Festival will be cancelled for June 2020 and will return in 2021
The Gloucester Arts Festival is now open to receive submissions for the June 2020 show: H2O20: Shaped by Water. Previously held as a regional festival, the 2020 Gloucester Arts Festival is now open to artists outside of the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
The Gloucester Arts Festival committee is pleased to announce an open call for an exhibition, juried and judged by Mary Holland, which will be the focal point of our 2020 Gloucester Arts Festival. Mary Holland is the Thomas C. Gordon, Jr., Director of the Studio School, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The theme of the festival is water, both in nature and in human experience (e.g., industrial settings, conservation efforts, community life, spiritual dimensions, etc.). Submitted art should embody this theme. Artists will be juried into the show with digital images of original 2D or 3D work completed in the last two years. Artists must be 18 years and over, only original work created in the last two years is acceptable for jury or sale. Accepted media include acrylic, ceramic, charcoal, colored pencil, encaustic, fiber art, glass, graphite, metal, mixed media, oil, original pen and ink, original print, pastel, photography, stone, tempera, watercolor, and wood. Exhibition: Friday, June 5th through Sunday, June 28th, 2020 at Gloucester Arts on Main, Gloucester VA
Opening Reception: Friday, June 5th, 6 to 8 pm
Deadline: Friday, April 3rd, 11:59 pm
Entry Fee: $40 for 1 to 5 works
Awards: Over $6,000 total prizes given
$3,000 and solo show at Arts on Main awarded for Best in Show
- $3,000 and solo show at Arts on Main awarded for Best in Show
- $2,000 for Second Place
- $1,000 for Third Place
- $1,000 for Artists’ Choice
- $ 250 for People’s Choice
- $ 250 Awards of Merit
Basic Guidelines: Please complete entry form, pay entry fee and submit digital images. Please review complete rules and requirements in prospectus.
Digital images of work submitted for jury process are to be uploaded in jpg or jpeg format
The file size of each image is not to exceed 3MB
For best presentation, resolution should be at least 100 DPI
Show only the image if possible, no frame or mat
Label each image with: first initial, last name, and title Example: JSmith_Titled.jpg
Artwork will be displayed at Arts On Main and featured on the Gloucester Arts Festival website. Artists will be notified by Friday, April 24th of their acceptance status. All entries to be judged must be properly framed, ready to hang and shipped or delivered to Arts on Main by between May 22nd and May 29th.
