Gloucester Arts Festival

May 20-28, 2017

The Gloucester Arts Festival, supported by the Cook Foundation , announces an exciting slate of events in its inaugural celebration, May 20-28, 2017.

This year we have chosen to showcase some of the finest painters from the Mid-Atlantic region through Plein Air events in our beautiful coastal surroundings. We welcome you to participate in the Festival through workshops, chats with artists, painting competitions for community artists, art sales, gallery receptions, and more. There is even a children’s event scheduled to ignite that spark of creativity in our future artists.

We are pleased to have our Festival coinciding with another Gloucester tradition: Symphony under the Stars featuring The Virginia Symphony in a free outdoor concert. These are extraordinary opportunities for art lovers throughout the region to pursue, collect, and enjoy artistic expressions that reflect the heart of the river. We invite you to join us!

The Cook Foundation is a non-profit 501c3, private foundation. Its primary purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Gloucester, Virginia through support of local arts and architecture. The Foundation promotes aesthetic awareness and pride in the community.

The Cook Foundation has been thrilled to be able to bring the Virginia Symphony for over a decade to the community for a free outdoor concert each summer.

They continue to empower a book club, commission and fund original works in drama, and offer arts scholarships to graduating high school students and support other very worthwhile endeavors.
